Team GSF SB Marathon: Help Us Reach Our $26,200 Team Fundraising Goal

Thirty Team GSF runners are challenging and pushing themselves for the SMA cause in the Santa Barbara International Marathon on November 12, 2011. 30 competitors! And on top of the immense personal physical commitment they’ve made, they have collectively set a team fundraising goal of $26,200 for the Gwendolyn Strong Foundation (GSF) to help end SMA. $26,200! That’s awesome! And together, as a team — that’s inspiring!

Truly hard to believe, but we’re already only two-months-out from the Santa Barbara Marathon. I’m simply blown away by the support of so many incredibly inspiring people coming together to run with me and Team GSF. We have thirty people signed up and over the coming weeks I’m looking forward to introducing them to you. Their personal reasons for joining the fight may vary, but their dedication to helping end SMA is steadfast and consistent. And I couldn’t be more honored to be running alongside each and every one of them in November.

Through our efforts at the GSF, our goal is to change the future of this brutal disease — to see the day when SMA is no longer terminal, but treatable. We are an all-volunteer organization with no administrative expenses and 100% of donor support goes towards our mission. We’re campaigning to increase awareness. We’re determined to advance promising research. And we’re committed to making sure those impacted have what they need to thrive. Over the past two years, we’ve raised nearly $1 Million and we’ve had a material impact on this disease. But there is more work to be done and funding is a major factor in keeping the positive momentum building at every level.

Towards that end, we’ve set a Team GSF Santa Barbara Marathon fundraising goal of $26,200. A lofty goal… but one I know we will achieve — together! Each inspiring runner has committed to raising funding towards that goal and they’ll be pounding the pavement drumming up awareness and support for SMA in the process.
